Last February we hosted Curvy Pants Month, a theme month full of curvy pants-making tutorials, pattern reviews, and inspiration. As we’re currently in the midst of the Jeans & Trousers challenge for our #CurvyYearofSewing, we thought it would be helpful to revisit these posts for help and inspiration.

HI: 2 questions:
Are there any recommended patterns for full bellies and flat butts? I am also 4.11 and finding a good fitting pants pattern is quite a challenge. Thanks, Debbie

When I sew for customers that have a tummy and no butt, I find that a good starting point is to turn the pant back to front. You still may need to adjust the waist (I make the muslin with an extra bit [maybe 2or 3″] of extra height at the waist.) I then tie an elastic around where I want the waist to be, and pull the pant into shape for my, or my customer’s body.

Hot Patterns just came out with a pull-on knit pant that looks super easy. The Pants segment here is perfectly timed. I bought some ponte from Stylemaker Fabrics (Arietta ponte is super thick, and doesn’t look like it will pill ever!) and I’m all ready to go!
