Hi! My name is Judi and I have a pattern review for you. It was my pleasure to make Indygo Junction’s Everyday Tank.
Indygo Junction describes the Everyday Tank as follows: “Classic tank top which features decorative mini-pleats along the front neckline. Finish with bias along neckline, arm holes and curved hem. Available in two lengths. The short hits below the waist, the longer hits mid-hip.”
The Everyday Tank is available in size XS to 3XL (up to a 54″ bust and 56″ hip).
There were a couple of things that caught my eye with this pattern:
- It is made from a woven and not a knit
- It has slightly more detail than most tanks
- It comes in my size!
I would consider myself to be pear shaped as I am 5’8” and my bust is 50” Bra size is a 44C. Hips are 55” but are not really an issue as this top does not cover the fullest portion of my hips/buttocks area.
I made the 3XL size in the longer length. I suppose I could have made the 2XL and graded up for the hips but I would rather have a more generous fit. I detest the thought of exposing my bakery… you know, muffin top and rolls that you can see because the fabric is just a little too snug. I have made way too many patterns that were just a tad too snug and I won’t wear them…what a waste!
The added style to this tank would include the pleats at the neckline, the cute rise in the hem on the sides and the binding at the hemline…this is great for anyone with a fear of hemming on a curve.
I found the directions straightforward and easy to follow. This would be a sew one in a day for most, I think. I used a quilters cotton that I loved. I only had about 1 ½ yards so I had to piece my binding together but I think it’s hard to tell because of the randomness of the print.
On the pattern rating scale of 1 – 5, 1 being the lowest, here are my thoughts:
Size Range: 5 The pattern is multi-sized through 3XL.
Instructions: 5 Completely easy to understand – no questions here!
Construction: 5 Goes together with no surprises
Final Fit: 5 Very pleased with the fit (and 3XL can be complex)
Overall Rating: 5 This patterns delivers, in my opinion.
I will be making some more of these for summer. It will be nice to wear 100% cotton when the temps soar to over 105 degrees in the summer. On my next make, I will probably gather the neckline instead of using the pleats just to see the difference in appearance and try a lighter voile for the fabric. I think I will also take advantage of opportunity to make the neckline, armhole and hem bindings in a contrast fabric for added interest.

I would love the pattern. I have never had an Indygo Junction pattern. I find it hard to find patterns in my size and love the idea of a longer pattern so that my bakery doesn’t show. lol

I’ve made an Indygo Junction pattern. I liked the directions. But I need to expand my summer wardrobe.. I’m going to visit Florida soon. It’s very warm there.
Woven cotton tank? Count me in! Oklahoma summers are scorching hot and knits just melt to me. I need this cotton possibility.

I like the looks of this pattern. I have not tried Indygo junction patters before, but this would be a great one to try. I love that it does not use a knit as I prefer more natural fabrics for summer. I like to breath and have my clothes breath with me. So, pick me, pick me!!!

I am impressed that there is no armhole gaping. It looks like the pattern needs no adjustment for a C cup. I wonder how it would do if you have a larger sized cup?

I really like the fabric, as well as the way your top fits. It looks great on you. I’m just getting back to sewing after a many year absence. It seems like people steer us away from quilting fabric but I don’t understand why–this looks great on you.

I have never made a tank top for myself and I have been sewing for 60 yrs. I have shied away form them because the armholes are always too large and gap horribly in ready made. I really like the pleats in the pattern. I would probable make gathers instead as it is easier for me. I would really like to have this pattern so I can finally make a tank for myself.
This looks like it would be a good beginner pattern, or just if you want a quick sew. I’ve never made an IJ pattern before. I may need to make one for myself for the summer here in California

I always have concerns about sleeveless tops that are large enough for my belly being too big in the armhole. Was this an issue for this tank top?
I also noticed that the back of the top is not scooped like the front. Is there an option for different versions?
