Hi! My name is Judi and I have a pattern review for you. It was my pleasure to make Indygo Junction’s Everyday Tank.
Indygo Junction describes the Everyday Tank as follows: “Classic tank top which features decorative mini-pleats along the front neckline. Finish with bias along neckline, arm holes and curved hem. Available in two lengths. The short hits below the waist, the longer hits mid-hip.”
The Everyday Tank is available in size XS to 3XL (up to a 54″ bust and 56″ hip).
There were a couple of things that caught my eye with this pattern:
- It is made from a woven and not a knit
- It has slightly more detail than most tanks
- It comes in my size!
I would consider myself to be pear shaped as I am 5’8” and my bust is 50” Bra size is a 44C. Hips are 55” but are not really an issue as this top does not cover the fullest portion of my hips/buttocks area.
I made the 3XL size in the longer length. I suppose I could have made the 2XL and graded up for the hips but I would rather have a more generous fit. I detest the thought of exposing my bakery… you know, muffin top and rolls that you can see because the fabric is just a little too snug. I have made way too many patterns that were just a tad too snug and I won’t wear them…what a waste!
The added style to this tank would include the pleats at the neckline, the cute rise in the hem on the sides and the binding at the hemline…this is great for anyone with a fear of hemming on a curve.
I found the directions straightforward and easy to follow. This would be a sew one in a day for most, I think. I used a quilters cotton that I loved. I only had about 1 ½ yards so I had to piece my binding together but I think it’s hard to tell because of the randomness of the print.
On the pattern rating scale of 1 – 5, 1 being the lowest, here are my thoughts:
Size Range: 5 The pattern is multi-sized through 3XL.
Instructions: 5 Completely easy to understand – no questions here!
Construction: 5 Goes together with no surprises
Final Fit: 5 Very pleased with the fit (and 3XL can be complex)
Overall Rating: 5 This patterns delivers, in my opinion.
I will be making some more of these for summer. It will be nice to wear 100% cotton when the temps soar to over 105 degrees in the summer. On my next make, I will probably gather the neckline instead of using the pleats just to see the difference in appearance and try a lighter voile for the fabric. I think I will also take advantage of opportunity to make the neckline, armhole and hem bindings in a contrast fabric for added interest.
The pattern was provided by Indygo Junction but all opinions are mine based on my experience making this pattern.

I too like the simplicity of this top. I have made a one that is almost a clone of this one and have found that as I wear lots of open jackets this is a great one to wear in the summer.

Great review. Initially, I wasn’t interested in making a tank, but after reading the review, and finding out it was a woven, and reading the suggestion of using a contrasting binding for a little contrast, I’m now very interested in giving this tank a try!!!

A woven tank is perfect, especially under dress jackets for work.
Have but not yet sewn Indigo Junction patterns and I don’t normally wear tanks. I would try and wear this one though it looks great on and in a cotton woven it’ll be great for southern summers
Ihat a great staple for summer! I sewed at least ten vests from an Indygo Junction pattern years ago. Crazy quilted, or appliqued, would make them for holidays and such. Very 70’s!
That looks great. Hopefully i can whip some up for the summer. I have made an Indigo pattern before, the modern gored skirt. Simple pattern, and it can be made for any size- You just cut out the number of panels you need.
It is very slimming with the angled sides. Draws your attention away from larger hips. Looks lovely on you.

This tank is what I have been looking for. 2X, woven and just might fit? Yippee. That hem binding is a great idea, gives contrast options and adds a little weight to light fabric to keep it hanging right.

Very flattering fit, especially the armholes which are often too big in the larger sizes – I have never used an Indygo Junction pattern but may try this pattern because I like the “look” and the fit.
