Fellow curvy friends, I am excited to announce that I will be hosting a sewalong over on my blog for Style Arc’s Misty Stretch Pull On Jeans this October. The Misty Jean is a basic pull-on/jegging jean with a mock fly and mock front pockets, real back pockets, a coin pocket, narrow straight legs and a double elastic waist.
The ladies over at Style Arc have done something wonderful for this sewalong. They have graded this pattern out to a size 38 (that’s a 72 inch hip measurement). Curvy girls of the world rejoice! The pattern is available in downloadable PDF form on Style Arc’s Etsy site in packages that include 22/24/26, 28/30/32, and 34/36/38. No worries if you are below these package sizes, because this pattern is available all the way down to a size 4. If you have an affinity for paper patterns, head over the Style Arc’s website and order the paper pattern (only available to size 30 at the moment) but make sure to order soon, because this will be shipping from Australia, and can take a while.
The official kick off date for this sewalong will be October 1st, at which time you will be able to grab a button and see the schedule for the sewalong. I hope you all will join me for this sewalong, to show pattern companies how the curvy community will rally behind them when they offer styles we like in sizes that fit our bodies.

Just a quick note to everyone. I did receive information from Style Arc regarding the sizing for the additional patterns. You can hop over to my blog on this link http://pandorasews.blogspot.com/2015/09/misty-jeans-sewalongdimensions-for.html to read my thoughts on the dimensions and picking your appropriate size.

Wait, Stylearc has an Etsy site with downloadable patterns? Wait, the downloadable patterns are multisize?! Oh, this is far too dangerous information.
Alicia @ Pandora Sews says
I know, this is really dangerous information! They are working on some other ways to get patterns in to our hands as well.

Thanks for sharing Style Arc’s website! It is another great
website to add to my bookmarked pages as well as ACS Daily. I totally agree that it is time for the curvy fashion revolution! I will mark my calendar for your sewalong and hope I can join.
Alicia @ Pandora Sews says
Thanks, Kristine! I would love to have you join in.

I think I will try and sew along. I too will be sewing the Barb stretch pant for stretch wovens. I have already made them and have tweaked the fit. I will change the front and add the jean pocket details. Then put the ginger jean pocket on the back. Not as skinny a pant leg suits my 63 year old back side and legs. Let’s have some fun!

Glad to have you join in!

Can we get more information on the paper patterns if ordered from your website. I looked there and couldn’t find the pattern even by using the search feature. How many sizes come in one envelope, cost including shipping to USA, etc.?

Here’s a link for the pattern

SA usually packages a pattern in one size per envelope. Shipping is figured at the check out and varies based on how much stuff you get. The nice part of a printed pattern is that you get a free one with every pattern order. The nice part of their PDF patterns is you get three sizes. I’ve ordered from them both ways and haven’t had issues either way.

Very cool! I could use a new pair of jeggins for the fall; this came at a perfect time for me! I haven’t ever done a sewalong, though. To be honest, I’m not even sure what a sewalong is! I see them all the time featured on sewing blogs but I’ve never looked into it. I’m going to google it but if anyone has a quick answer I’d appreciate it, thanks ladies!
Alicia @ Pandora Sews says
A sewalong is just basically where a blogger documents all the steps to sewing a certain pattern, giving tips and tricks along the way. It is broken down in to small pieces and this particular sewalong will last the entire month of October. Then readers will join in and share their made items within a few weeks after. Sometimes there are even prizes!
Michell Kasar says
Thanks so much! I figured it was something like this. Sounds fun!

I have their Barb’s stretch pull-on skinny leg pant pattern…maybe I will follow along with that pattern. It looks very similar. I’ll have to order in some fabric!
Alicia @ Pandora Sews says
Nita, most of the steps will be the same, so follow along and feel free to ask questions. I will help any way that I can.

I am having trouble finding the measurements for the extended sizes- the size charts all end at size 30. Does anyone know these measurements? I have sent a question to StyleArc.
Alicia @ Pandora Sews says
I have also sent a request to the ladies at Style Arc regarding this. Hopefully we will hear something back soon. I know that they are super busy right now.
Maggie Priest says
I heard back from StyleArc on Etsy, and these are the measurements they gave me:
WAIST
Size 34: 142 cm (56″)
Size 36: 148 cm (58 1/4″)
Size 38: 154 cm (60 1/2″)
HIP
Size 34: 160 cm (63″)
Size 36: 166 cm (65 1/4″)
Size 38: 172 cm (67 3/4″)
Note: 5cm (2″) of negative ease as this pattern is made for a stretch woven fabric.
Alicia @ Pandora Sews says
Thanks, Maggie. I just got my response this morning as well from Style Arc, and I have broken this down a little further on the blog.
Maggie Priest says
Oh! Sorry, I had not been to my blog reader yet today. Thank you.
Michelle Rose says
Looking forward to it! I’ve had this pattern for a few months but will finally be making it up as part of the sewalong.
Alicia @ Pandora Sews says
Yay, Michelle! I can’t wait to see what everyone makes. So exciting!
