Hey everyone!
Fall season is approaching in the northern hemisphere and there are lots of transitional options that have popped up in the last month.
I will start with the usual caveat that this will never be a perfect record of everything released – there are just too many pattern companies. Please feel free to leave comments with newly released patterns that you are aware of as I’m sure others appreciate it!
Personally, I thought the latest Vogue release was an absolute winner. I picked up over half a dozen and even though they are not the most inclusive, there are 12 patterns in the fall release that go up to size 22. Vogue’s size chart for size 22 is designed for a 48 bust / 41.5 waist / 50 hip. But they are terrible about including (HELPFUL!) finished measurements on their site, so beware.
Jackets/Coats
I love this jacket! And I am really digging the tweed + faux leather combo. This pattern goes up to a size 52 which is for a 48″ bust, 41″ waist, 50.5″ hip. Burda has such a comprehensive size chart so I’m attaching it here
An unstructured, slightly oversized coat with some cool options. This is a great transitional option as a topper.
Yes, another bomber jacket, but there’s always a customer for a new basic. Wardrobe by Me sizes up to a 24, for 48″ bust, 41″ waist, 51″ hip.
Silhouette Patterns #1929 Meghan’s Coat
I believe this style would be classified as a “car coat” and is intended to resemble that worn by the Duchess of Sussex. This coat has cup sizing, french darts, and a tie-waist closure.

Dresses/Tops
Sized from XXS – 6X, this knit top and dress is truly versatile. Sure, we can shorten or lengthen any pattern we choose but, we love when it has been done for us! This pattern has options for crop, tee, tunic, dress, mini, midi length and ALL the sleeve length options.
A simple but cute loose fitting dress that seems like a dream to wear in linen. Pattern is sized up to 22 which is for a 48″ bust, 41″ waist and 51″ hip.
Another cami-style top and dress. It goes to a size 30, and a C/D cup option, which fits a 58.5″ bust.
I like the idea (especially the criss-cross straps!) but I am wary of the bust fit and darts in the promo pics.
I love the lace front and while the cut at the shoulder is interesting, I wonder how bra friendly it is. But you have to appreciate Itch to Stitch for their inclusive sizes AND interesting patterns. This one has cup sizing up to DD and size 20. This combo fits a bust size up to 49″.
DG Patterns Nizar (size chart)
This pattern has some fun and interesting lines. It seems like it would make up well for summer in something light and flowy like lawn or challis or a slightly heavier woven like crepe for fall/winter (biased opinion as I want to make everything in crepe)
Seamwork is pretty well liked around here and while I don’t find the Emmie top extremely innovative, it is a very nice style and Seamwork is really inclusive. Size 26 is drafted for a 54″ bust, 47″ waist and 58″ hip.
The pattern page says it’s “shaped with double open-ended darts” which I think are “release tucks”(?). Continuing in its ease, the pattern has cut-on sleeves and collar and the option for a separate button placket or ‘grown-on’.
There are several posts on the JL blog with tester photos and reviews and the pattern looks good on everyone!
Sometimes, simplicity is best! I am always drawn to tank style dresses and love this low-cut back neckline! It’s fitted through the bust and falls coolly into an A-line.
Per the pattern page, there are 3 options for hem lengths, 2 for front neckline and 2 options for finishing the neckline and armhole.
Silhouette Patterns #179 Modular Top
I LOVE this! Boatneck knit top with cut-on sleeves, french darts, and cool snap (or button!) closure.

Silhouette Patterns #719 DVF’s Blouse
I own a dozen bow-neck (or pussybow) patterns and that isn’t including those that are in my Burda magazine collection. I am a sucker for them and this one is beautifully fitted and comes in B, C and D cup sizes. Win.
Fit & flare goodness. mmmmm! 🙂 Midi-length, seamed skirt with gathers in the bodice…a beautiful open neckline and pockets. And in Style Arc’s wonderfully expansive sizing. What’s not to love?!
Talk about bang for your buck! This pattern includes options for a wrap top, dress with soft blousing at the waistline and a slim, fitted skirt, and a jumpsuit!
Last but not least, IndieSew released the Kila Tank in expanded sizes. The pattern is available in 0-18 for B-cups and 12-30 for D cups. Yay! The 30D will fit a 57.5″ full bust, 49.5″ waist and 59.5″ hip.
Great for those in climates where summer is still in full swing, and a fantastic transitional item for the rest of us.
Bottoms
This skirt features knife pleats, a fitted waistband and below-knee length.
Cropped, wide-leg pants are still very much in and Burda’s take features a wide waistband, fly-front closure and slash pockets. Caveat: Burda suggests a stretch woven. That’s one issue I have with them…it’s often a recommended fabric for plus sized pants.
Silhouette Patterns #3219 ALC pants
Another RTW look, these pants are fitted through the hip, widening at the ankle. Shown with a split seam on the center front leg (which you could totally sew shut if that isn’t your thing!)

Sinclair Patterns Gaia Top
Is this activewear? Athleisure? I’m not certain but really love the crossover straps and keyhole back! The pattern is available up to size 26 which fits a 50″ bust, 44″ waist and 53.5″ hip. Be aware, sizes 0-8 are sized for B/C cup, 10-18 for C/D and 20-22 for D/E. Interesting choice.
And while I haven’t sewn any Sinclair patterns, as a PDF hater, they win points with me for offering trimless patterns with layers!
Another new to me company and YAY for more swimwear options! This pattern boasts 25 possible combinations with it’s options for front and back neckline, straps, leg cut and back coverage.
It’s sized up to a 30 and is designed to fit 56″ bust, 50″ waist and 58″ hip.
And that’s a wrap! This roundup wasn’t as autumnal as I thought it would be! Still plenty of summer options but lots for those of us moving on to fall sewing.
Have you added any of these to your stash?
Elisabet says
Actually have to defend burda here a little bit, they choose stretch woven for everyone and everything, not only plus size pants. Great round-up! I’m currently drooling over the new Ottobre, pdf and everything but you just can’t beat a magazine!

Thanks so much for putting together this wrap-up! I absolutely see both sides of the argument re: the sizing because I’m sized out of most of these, but I understand that lots of people who consider themselves curvy aren’t.
Still an excellent resource to have!

Oops my mistake I was looking at the one below.

Sorry–I don’t find many of these to be very size-inclusive at all!
kssews says
Many of these patterns go up to 50+ inch busts and/or 50+ inch hips. What would you consider to be size inclusive?
Carolyn says
Actually if you’re on the lower end of the plus size range these are inclusive…but if you’re a 26, 28, 30, 32 – there were only a few options offered. However, this isn’t your fault, it’s the designers who are making the patterns.
Also, while a DD cup size seems inclusive what happens if you’re an F, G or larger? Oh and for point of reference my hips are larger than 50″ especially when sitting…so I can see how someone larger than these sizes would still wonder what’s available to them without a lot of pattern alterations.

That Demeter dress is going straight into the sewing queue. How can something so simple be so cute? I’m outside the size range but with the generous ease that looks to be built-in I bet I can make it work.
K.S. Sews says
I think it’s so cute! And I agree, there’s a decent amount of ease. Plus, it’s a simple enough style that it would be really easy to grade up a bit.
