Welcome to Mini Capsule Theme Month! At the CSC we love the idea of sewing your own capsule wardrobe. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term, a capsule wardrobe is a set collection of interchangeable wardrobe pieces, which you can use to create and remix many different looks. A mini capsule is a very small version of that idea. For #cscminicapsule theme month we decided our capsules should be between four to nine wardrobe pieces, not including accessories. We’ve got so many great posts planned for you this month!
You can expect:
- Is a curvy sewn capsule wardrobe right for you?
- Many different approaches to planning and executing your capsule wardrobe.
- Reviews of sewing patterns that contributors are including in their capsules.
- Pattern throwdowns.
- Contributor mini capsule reveals.
- A pattern giveaway for one lucky reader to sew their own curvy mini capsule!
Want to join in on the fun? Hashtag your facebook and Instagram posts #cscminicapsule to be included in a photo roundup at the end of the month! You can also grab a button for your blog, and spread the Curvy Mini Capsule Love!

I like the theory of capsule wardrobes and have planned them previously both sewing and RTW but I get sidetracked easily and never quite get them to work properly. I’m in the throes of trying to plan a capsule again as I have limited sewing time and too many things on my list to sew so this is great timing. We’re on the cusp of winter here in New Zealand so I’m building around navy, red, black & ivory with a few pieces in other colours made last year that should work in with those base colours. I have a few print dresses in those base colours planned so I’m hoping some cute prints will stop me getting bored.

I already sort of have a mini capsule for work, but I want to change it up a bit. I moved up to a supervisor position and want to bump up my outfits to reflect that.
I’m looking at a 21 piece work wardrobe though, 8 bottoms, 8 tops, 2 dresses and 3 outer layer pieces. I may add a few vests to that, but first i need to make a few mock ups and see if i can find a design that works well on my body.
My at home wardrobe would almost be double that, but thats because of all of the geeky tees i have. and none of this would include my gym cloths, but i need to make more of those soon too. such fun. 🙂

I love this idea! I prefer a capsule wardrobe – where all of it mixes and matches, but I have found that I tend to jump in to whatever the current craze is in sewing without thinking how it will work for me. I am looking forward to this series!

I am so excited by this months theme. At the moment I feel like I have a ‘uniform’, a few pieces that I wear continually but I am so uninspired by them. To have an organised, functional capsule wardrobe that I love to wear and sew would be great. I look forward to the inspiration. Thanks for all the great work you do.

I started doing capsule sewing a few years back. It was really just a travel wardrobe. I was tired of having a whole closet full of orphans! Sounds like great fun. I just got some fun fabrics in Vancouver. My plans are a follows: linen and cotton tops. All fabrics have a warm beige background. So the Eleanor Jean/ Capri in beige. Tops, Springfield hacking will occur! And one chambray Itch to stitch dress in their newest pattern.
And probably a new swim suit!

I am actually halfway through a mini-capsule wardrobe of my own, so this is excellent timing. Looking forward to the posts!
