Hi, Friends! I’m so happy to be back again with news of another pattern company improving their size range. This is the tester version of the Lodo Dress, the first pattern released in the new size range from True Bias. The new size range is from 14 to 30 and is drafted for a D cup!
Measurements: High Bust: 43″, Bust: 47″, Waist 44″, Hip 55″
Body Shape: Representing team pear!
Pattern Size Used: 20 bust- 24 waist- 26 hip
Alterations: I angled the bust dart up by about an inch. My bust is fairly high for my size, the height of the bust dart worked well on most of the testers and was left in the same position in the final pattern. You can see from the photos that I also need a bit of a swayback adjustment and/or more room at the back high hip. This alteration was added to the final version of the pattern, which I am anxiously waiting to find time to try!
Fabric Used: The “wrong” side of a houndstooth ponte from Joann’s (I wasn’t able to find the link on the website).
Fit: I had actually purchased this pattern several years ago in the old size range and attempted to grade it up, but it had some fit issues that I never took the time to revise and sort out. It turns out that the secret to getting this pattern to fit my body is a bust dart, which is included in the new version of the pattern. YES! I really like the casual yet stylish fit of this pattern.
Changes for Future Versions: I’m excited to try the final version of this pattern, but otherwise I don’t plan any changes! I’m definitely planning more versions because its just so easy to wear. If you want to see more photos or get more details (including a peek at the “right” side of the fabric), I wrote about this dress on my blog.

I love this dress. Similar to the cocoon dress but with shaping which I want. Going to give this a try. I too need a sway back adjustment but haven’t done it on my own before. Did you use some instructions/ tutorial for it?
Is it a stretch fabric or a woven?
Megan says
Hi Toni- this is a knit. I actually didn’t do a swayback adjustment on this but my understanding is that the final pattern had a bit of one built in- it was one of the changes made to the final pattern. So hopefully it works for you without alterations!

I’d never have given the “right” side of that fabric a second glance. The dress looks great: comfort and style, what else could one want?
Megan says
Thank so much! I agree, the right side is not at all my style!

I love this! So clever to use the wrong side of the fabric! I never thought of it.

Thank you! Fortunately it was on the bolt with the wrong side out, or I might never have noticed it.
