Fall has finally arrived here in Northern California and the cooler weather certainly has me thinking about sweater knits! I’m excited to share with you my most recent me-made sweater — the BlueGingerDoll Bonnie.
The Bonnie is a retro inspired sweater with three versions. I made View C — the boatneck sweater with 3/4 sleeves. I used a cotton blend hatchi sweater knit to make mine, which is a more lightweight fabric with a little stretch. I just purchased a red sweater knit to make myself another Bonnie and I’m thinking about making a striped version with some cotton jersey. This pattern is most definitely a staple top for me and great to wear with skirts.

Oh, thanks for sharing this review! Makes me want the pattern. You look very cute in this!
This is the second pattern recently that you have made that I didn’t give a second glance when I saw it on the model but mustmakeimmediately after seeing on you 🙂
I love this on you. It’s gorgeous. The color and everything. Great Job.
You mentioned in your review that you are pear-shaped. I have pinned your garment to the Pinterest Pearables Board at http://www.pinterest.com/kathy3217/pearables-those-who-sew-for-a-pear-shaped-figure/ Please let me know if you would like it removed.
The pin a link back to your review.
Don’t laugh but it never even occurred to me that one could sew a sweater. I did not know you could buy that kind of fabric. Obviously I need to spend more time in the fabric store, lol! And put a sweater on my list. Thanks for the review and opening my eyes to new possibilities!
Don’t worry, Nita, this did not occur to me either until I saw an article in Threads (or possible Vogue Patterns or Sew Stylish…) that talked about sewing with sweater knits a couple of years ago!
That is gorgeous on you! I love how it accenturates your waist, and the colour is perfect.
Thank you, Hedda! And super comfy, too! 🙂
You look so amazing! The close fit is gorgeous- as is the colour!!!! What a great basic sweater pattern.
Thank you, Poppy! 🙂

Wow Tanya, you look drop dead gorgeous in that sweater. The sweater fits you perfectly but the color you chose is really the icing on the cake, like it’s made just for you. Beautiful. 😀
Thank you, Bea!!! I can never turn away from a green fabric — especially kelly green! 🙂
