Curvy Inspiration: Gabi Gregg of GabiFresh.com

June 5, 2014 by Jenny

The first curvy fashion blogger I started following was Gabi Gregg, originally at Young, Fat and Fabulous and now at GabiFresh.

At the time, I was far from body confident… I constantly wore things that didn’t quite fit because I couldn’t bring myself to wear one size bigger, and I was incessantly reminded by fashion magazines that I couldn’t wear the latest fashions anyway.

Gabi proved me wrong!

Gabi’s a 20 something who currently lives in LA, and she was one of the original young, cool and amazingly fashionable curvy bloggers. Now let’s establish something straight up: she’s a lot younger and cooler than me.

But what really blew me away was the realization that I could actually wear the same outfits as her! Early on, I bought an entire outfit based on one that she’d put together and linked to – yes, another amazing thing when reading Gabi’s blog is you can click on the links and buy the things because they will actually fit you. This shouldn’t be revolutionary. And yet it is. Most of the time when I see fashion shoots I admire them aesthetically, but in the knowledge I can’t buy those garments – though of course I can sew them (GO SEWING!).

Gabi also takes big fashion chances and shows that really, anyone can wear anything if you know how to style it. Crop tops? She’s always wearing them. Bikinis? Well, she started a movement! Crazy patterned suits? Done.  Neon? You can’t keep her away.

Of course, not all of us have the time, energy or inclination to be fashion mavens like Gabi, but there’s so much we can learn from her. She’s confident and happy, proud of her looks and well put together. She has an awesomely creative approach to dressing, and she figures out how she can look amazing in anything.

So thanks, Gabi, for helping me to realize that I can access fashion as much as any other woman, and for all the great outfit ideas!
