Announcing the CSC Holiday Sewing Swap!

November 28, 2014 by Tanya

**THIS SWAP IS NOW CLOSED FOR SIGN-UPS**

We thought it would be fun to host a sewing swap among the lovely ladies of our community.  As it’s the holiday season and many of us are busy shopping for our family and friends, this is just a little swap.  Nothing too extravagant or costly.  Just a sweet gift to share with another sewing friend. 🙂

SEWING SWAP

What is this?

  • This is a sewing gift exchange.  You are matched up with a swap partner and put together a small sewing gift to send to them.
  • Your package should consist of a sewing pattern and a small notion or two, not exceeding $15.00 USD.  These items can be new/vintage/thrifted or from your stash.
  • Along with your pattern you could include:  buttons, a zipper, trims or anything that could be used to make the pattern or just notions that think your partner would like.

How can I take part?

  • Comment below with your blog and/or email address where your swap partner can contact you.
  • If you want your partner to live in the same country as you to save on shipping costs, please state that in your comment. (ie, “US only”).
  • You will then be matched up with a swap partner and you can contact each other for mailing addresses and ideas for your gifts.

When is the deadline to sign up for this swap?

  • Friday, December 5 at 11 AM Pacific Standard Time is the deadline to comment on this post and sign up for this swap.

When will I know who my partner is?

  • Swap partners will be announced on December 6.

How much time do I have to send my package?

  • Your swap partner should receive her package by December 25, so plan accordingly.

How does this work again?

  • Comment below with your blog and/or email address to sign up for this sewing swap by December 5 at 11:00 AM PST.
  • Include in your comment whether you’d like your partner to be from the same country/continent as you or whether you are willing to ship internationally.

If you have a blog, you can also snatch this button!

This is a delightful idea. I’d love to take part in this exchange. I’d prefer someone from Germany, tho, but anywhere is ok as long as my partner understands that the postal service might be slow during the holidays. I’m from the US. You can reach me at . I’m excited about the swap.

Actually maybe due to the shipping deadline it would be better if I swap with someone in the EU, post can get pretty slow here around xmas!

  20. Shirley says

    November 28, 2014 at 4:51 pm

Oooh yes! I’ve never done anything like this before, so I am well in!

I’d love to have exchanged with someone back home in Scotland, but Canada Post to UK’s shipping deadline is 1st Dec, so just Canada or US for me please (preferably Canada if poss).

Great to see so many curvy Canucks on here, woohoo!

My email is shirley_tulloch at hotmail.com
PS poor Tanya, you must have RSI from having to type the same comment over and over… ;O)

  21. Lisa says

    November 28, 2014 at 4:21 pm

Aw man. I would totally do this but being in NZ shipping would cost a bomb and Christmas makes me poor enough as it is. But definitely count me in if you do something similar in the new year!

    • Rowena says

      December 2, 2014 at 4:52 pm

Hi Lisa! I’m also in NZ so if you’re interested in an NZ-only swap that could work? Absolutely up to you though.

  27. MaZeLiving says

    November 28, 2014 at 1:37 pm

    What an amazing idea!
I have been away from blogging for a while, some family events kept me busy, but have been looking for a good time to come back to sewing and blogging. I would love to participate, US only please.
I also thought that a pattern idea might be tricky because most patterns come in the limited size range and no one wants to get disappointed opening a gift. I am not sure everyone would want to reveal their measurements/size but that might be something to consider. Also, just a thought, but a lot of indie sites offer a gift card option so even if you live in a different country and shipping costs are a major consideration, you may be able to make someone’s dream for a (downloadable) pattern come true.

    • Tanya says

      November 28, 2014 at 3:19 pm

I imagine that when partners email each other that they would discuss sizes. What is your email address?

        • Tanya says

          November 29, 2014 at 12:24 pm

I can, but never sure if that’s the email address that people would want to be posted publicly.

  28. Val says

    November 28, 2014 at 1:10 pm

I’d love to be in! Prefer Canada only please – as others have said, I’d rather put the money into the package than into shipping.
