I’m a bigger woman who is also an older woman (but no one guesses my actual age because I go with the theory that age is in your mind!) I have additional problems of an ‘apron’ tummy, and I have lipodema/lypodema of my ankles (a thick ring above the ankle bone as well as ‘bumps’ next to the ankle bone. Thus wearing dresses, for me, is nerve-wracking, so I don’t do it. But I would love to!! I am sooooo sick of wearing full length pants (even capris etc emphasise the fluid lumps).
Has anyone found any ‘tricks’ to being able to successfully showing less-than-perfect ankles (though I note that there are beautiful ankles galore among this group!!)
I have issues with swelling below my knees so my favorites are maxi dresses with splits on the side. Other days i throw care in the wind and choose joy and I find when I embrace all of me I can wear any style I want. Wear the dress sis and cant wait to see your make in the next roundup 😍
That’s what I do! Wear whatever you like! It took me 61 years to figure this out. Since we sew we can wear anything we love! Don’t wait as long as I did. My legs look much worse than yours- pale with lumps and veins. I don’t care- I’m loving my me made clothes! You look beautiful!

Aless as I told Martha below- its time to just be free! I’m 61 and I just don’t care anymore. Why are we searching for “outer beauty” and “perfection” when we already are beautiful people? I work with adults with disabilities, I have children with Down Syndrome, Sotos Syndrome etc. Don’t I dress them up pretty or handsome no matter what body differences they have? You bet they look cute after I dress them! My teen daughters with no “body flaws” wear what they like regardless of what RTW tells them.
Aless we should not hide our flaws. Truly isn’t it normal to have flaws? And if it isn’t, then what do I tell my adult friends with disabilities and my children? I think we are normal beautiful people. The world worships something few can obtain. And I don’t even want to! ((((HUGS)))) You are perfect to wear what you like the way you are!

Of course we dress them up too.(One of my nephews is on the autism spectrum and his mum has always dressed him just like his brothers-they always look terrific.) As I replied to Martha,I’ve lost a lot of self-confidence in my appearance as I’ve aged and put on a lot of weight through various illnesses. I need to find my way back to me!! Being on CSC is doing a lot to help me with that-thanks to everyone who contributes. <3
I have MS. And other chronic health issues. Growing old is hard. Lets be nice to us! ;o) (((HUG)))

Hi Mary. I purposely don’t sign into instagram when I do these roundups. So you should be able to see all the pictures unless they are blocked for you regionally or otherwise.
